KIDS DREAM TOO FOUNDATION ANNUAL PICNIC 2022

Mrs. Ranjita Mohanty

I am the founder of a charitable organization, Kids Dream Too Foundation, based in Charlotte, NC. We had our 1st annual outdoor event for our volunteers and their families on August 6th, 2022 and reviewed our goals and plans in 2022 for our volunteers. The event was held at the William Davie’s Park in South Charlotte. We raised a substantial amount for the organization during the event. It will be an immense gift for the children in the orphanage that KDTF supports. As you are aware, KDTF is a non-profit organization that supports orphanages in South Asia as well as in the south eastern USA. We had 100 participants with 30 kids who participated in the event.

I also want to thank our kids for their thoughtful contribution to our organization’s blog on the subject matter “Why we should help orphans and underprivileged kids”.

Please see the attached video of the Aug 6th event.

Why we should help orphans and under privileged kids

By Tuhina Dash, 11th grade

As members of the same international community, we bear a responsibility towards each other to help members of society that aren’t as privileged, especially young children. By making contributions, we enable them to pave a path for themselves and build a bright and successful future. So many of these children have seen hardships in their respective lives, and they deserve the chance to carve out a life for themselves and be put on an equal playing field, comparable to that of their peers.

By Asmita Nayak 12th Grade

There are hundreds of thousands of children who have lost parents, don’t have adequate access to resources such as a basic education, have a disability, and more. We should help orphans and underprivileged kids because they have gone through unimaginable grief and suffering that they shouldn’t have to face in their life, let alone at such a young age. Without these children, our world would not move forward in terms of innovation. By volunteering and educating them, we are able to make sure they can support themselves and help society move forward as well. We can basically provide them with the most normal childhood that we can.

“In this modern age of smartphones, computers, and prosperity, there are still hundreds of millions of people who are not given enough opportunities to further their lives. Furthermore, about 1 in 6 children like us in the world are living in extreme poverty. This is not right. It is our job to use some of our privileges and opportunities to help kids who don’t have enough of anything. Also, there are about 200 million kids living without parents or guardians. Many kids in the US cannot imagine living without their parents, so it is also our job to love and care for the orphans and impoverished kids living around the world. This job is one of the most important crises to solve and I hope we can solve it quickly.”

I believe we should help out orphans and underprivileged children because these children need support to become stronger as a whole. Most of these children lack good healthcare, food, and clothing including basic education which can affect them physically and mentally. It would greatly help in bringing materials or the basic necessities that can help all these needy children. Also, most orphanages are overcrowded without a permanent roof to live in, making it harder and more expensive to buy even basic necessities.

Every child deserves a place to call home and a path to a better life, and Kids Dream Too Foundation helps turn this basic necessity into a reality. Through the support of all volunteers and contributors, KDTF is able to provide education to children with the Jeevan Jyoti Ashram, with the hope sharing life skills to help the children lead a successful life later on. Helping these children, and underprivileged kids around the world, spreads compassion and brings progress to each community, lifting people out of poverty and creating a better future for all.

Why we should help orphans and under privileged kids

Although they may be considered orphans and underprivileged, they are still children. Every day, we wear clothes that they dream about. We play sports for fun whereas they play because it takes away their pain and suffering. Under privileged children lose their ability to have a normal childhood. I have seen orphans and underprivileged children on my visits to India. I see them selling different types of food to keep themselves alive. While we go to school for an education, they spend their "school hours" selling items. This is why we should help them because they are a part of our future.

Why we should help orphans and under privileged kids

By Sristi Nayak 7th Grade

There are about 153 million kids that are orphans. That's about 1 in every 6 kids worldwide. They don't have parents, most of them are living in poverty, and many of them are suffering from malnutrition and disease. They are at risk of exploitation and abuse, and they often don't have access to education or basic needs like food and shelter. We should think about the orphans' future and donate to fundraisers helping orphanages give orphans a better environment. And we should think about the orphans' past and donate to charities helping orphans get an education. There are programs that can help them lead a better life, including adopting or fostering these kids. But it takes money, which is why we need to do our part and donate as much as we can.

Have you ever wondered how it would feel like to be an orphan, how it would be to live without your parents? Lots of people forget about orphans even though they are the future of the society we live in, if we help these kids (by giving them the essentials to survive and most importantly an education) they could grow up to do many beautiful things to help themselves and others When we don't support them their creative potentials are wasted. Another reason we need to help under privileged kids is that all the traumatic experiences they go through are downright terrible such as child abuse, poor sanitation, low education, discrimination, and much, much more. We can help in many ways, for example, donating to a homeless shelter through a trusted organization, holding food drives, and taking orphans and under privileged kids to school. In the end, underprivileged kids are humans just like us and deserve all the opportunities we kids get.

Childhood is so precious. I hope every child has an enjoyable childhood. Unfortunately some are under privileged. They deserve a better life and a better childhood. If each of us share a little of responsibility and try to help these children, we definitely make a difference in their life. This is my belief. I will continue to support and encourage Ranjita Anuty's effort as much as I can. This is really for a great cause.

I believe that every person that sets foot on Earth deserves to be treated equally with kindness and respect, especially the children who have gone through tough times during their childhood due to factors not within their control. Every day, thousands of orphans and underprivileged children die due to poverty. They are unable to access the basic human needs: water and food. Children living among these dire conditions also lack the access to proper education. As a person with natural emotions, watching another person, especially a child, suffer is almost unbearable to see. These kids deserve better.

Why we should help orphans and underprivileged kids

By Sreshtha Dash 7th Grade

We are extremely lucky to have parents, food, shelter, money, senses, clothes, etc. but not everybody has those things. Many people are unprivileged and disabled. If we don’t help the less privileged people, then won’t they feel left out? Yes they will, which results in more people on the streets, meaning more thefts and pick pocketers, and ultimately meaning an unsafe country. Hence, if we help them they may acquire proper education, and they might become successful in life. Then maybe one day, they shall give back to the community. In conclusion, if we help the needy, then it will not only benefit us, but it will also benefit our community.

One of the most defining components of a human society is the tradition by which children are nurtured into the next generation. Despite this, 132 million children are orphaned, abandoned or neglected. They do not get a chance to live up to their full potential, due to a lack of education, communication skills and financial support. Not only do these hardships cause underprivileged children great suffering, their hardships also prevent society from reaching its full potential. The talent, inventions, and ideas that these children have, fail to come to fruition, which hinders human progress and economic development. According to research by Nobel prize-winning economist James Heckman, when it comes to economic growth, "The best investment is in quality early childhood development from birth to five for disadvantaged children and their families." Investing in quality education and health of disadvantaged children in their early years leads to a 13% return on investment per child, every year. Therefore it is in society's best interest to invest in its orphaned, abandoned and neglected children, not only out of empathy for them so that they may go on to live happy lives, but also for the advancement of humanity.

As per 2020, 1 in 6 people lived in extreme poverty. KDTF is trying to fix this problem by partnering with the Jeevan Jyoti Ashram in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India to give underprivileged kids and orphans a better life. These kids are the future of our world so please support them by donating whatever possible, help them flourish and lead a better life. You never know they might become an influential person who makes the world a better place for you.

Why we should help orphans and underprivileged kids

By Adwita Nambiar 7th Grade

Just a small act of kindness can be a game changer. Someone who seems like a nobody could end up owning one of the world's largest companies. Something that would help them become that person is an education. According to the 7th All India Education Survey, 2002 35 million children don't go to school in India. Access to an education could change their lives, but without nutrition they won't be able to focus on their studies and learn. You can help them help themselves. It doesn't matter how big of an act or how small. Even the smallest act makes a difference.
